Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is currently seeking a Technical Writer for their Baltimore office. The Technical Writer is responsible for directly supporting the production of technical documents and submittals.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):

  • Performs editing and rewriting of technical reports, documents, and specifications subject for approval by author for engineering projects. Works regularly technical staff to clarify reports, meaning, format, and style of their work.
  • Ensures consistency and clarity of style within technical reports.
  • Supports the production of technical reports and studies ensuring consistency of multiple authors and assisting the compilation of the report.
  • Supports in the development of project memoranda and letters.
  • Occasional supports with general office administration duties.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and passion for language, grammar, punctuation, and spelling through the creation of a coherent message that is concise and compelling to the end reader.
  • Demonstrate an ability to translate technical information into easy-to-understand language.
  • Project a confident, organized, self-starting personality with the ability to understand and clearly communicate through writing.
  • Possess good time management skills with the proficiency to multi-task and balance short-term deadlines against long-term goals.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to work with multiple people in a persistent, tactful, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Exercise excellent creative, communication, and problem-solving skills focusing attention on details.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to assume responsibility and make decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills with Microsoft Office.


Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 4 years of relevant experience in Lieu of a degree.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Experience developing technical specification and/or papers is a plus.
  • Experience with SpecsIntact and/or MasterSpec is a plus.
  • Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and/or Certified Construction Specifier (CCS), or ability to obtain, is a plus.
