With over 117 years of history and a commitment to excellence, we are seeking an experienced Residential and Commercial Title Examiner. The position is full-time and is based out of our Lynnwood, Washington office with the possibility of working remote.

  • Extensive experience processing title exams in the State of Washington is required.*

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Examine title documents filed in the public records to determine instruments and other matters affecting property to issue a preliminary commitment or a title guarantee product.
  • Have a complete understanding of policy and endorsement coverages.
  • Proficient in property record related sites.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of land records and the ability to interpret data retrieved from various methods including title plants.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex federal and state rules and regulations applicable to the title insurance industry.
  • Ability to review and understand legal descriptions, enlisting complex mapping skills to eliminate exceptions that do not apply. Identify complex property boundaries and ensure the contract legal description and the record title legal description match.
  • The ability to examine easements to determine if easement benefits insured(s) fee simple parcel(s) or if the easement burdens fee simple parcel(s) by third party.
  • The ability, after title is examined, to determine that an order requires underwriting guidance to progress the order.
  • The ability to read and understand Surveys. Review survey legal description and drawings for accuracy to determine if there are any encroachments, any ALTA 9 issues, or access issues.
  • Provide internal training for Residential and Commercial Title Examiners.
  • Must display integrity, be personable, positive, and a professional representative of the company while maintaining confidentiality of all proprietary information.

Knowledge And Skills Required

  • A minimum of 7 years of residential and commercial title experience required.
  • Must have excellent organizational; interpersonal, written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to identity potential issues, problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to act independently with sound judgment and take initiative.
  • The ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Repetitive and continual keyboard activity and interaction with display monitors is required.
  • The work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some flexibility. Occasional overtime may be required.

The estimated pay range stated represents the typical pay range for this position or similarly employed employees or employees performing substantially similar work. Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.

Pay Range for the position is between $32.00 - $44.00 hourly.

Old Republic complies with all federal, state and local laws including minimum wage requirements. In the event a minimum hourly rate stated is lower than the minimum wage required by law, Old Republic will always pay an amount equal to or greater than the minimum wage required by law.
