Compensation And Benefits

The salary range for this position is $120k—$175k. In addition to a competitive market-based salary, Sciton offers the opportunity to participate in equity/stock incentive programs, a profit-sharing bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package, including a 401 (k) with matching.

Position Summary

You will work very closely with the technical team, developing and supporting our product line of aesthetic medical devices. The position is onsite at our Palo Alto, California headquarters.

In This Role, You Will Engage In

  • Transducer design, which includes simulation, component development (e.g., mechanical fixtures, PCBs, electrical interconnects), assembly, and testing
  • Engineering documentation which includes writing requirements and specifications as well as developing and executing verification and validation test methods
  • Fabrication process development: writing of work instructions, design of assembly tools, performing design of experiments, optimizing process steps, manufacturing validation
  • Selection of component suppliers based on key performance criteria such as cost, quality, delivery time, specifications
  • Lead transducer prototype builds, generate BOMs, order parts, and partner with staff when necessary
  • Transducer system integration, which includes device calibration and testing
  • Transfer device designs to manufacturing by overseeing and validating assembly, testing
  • Collaborate with other R&D engineers and departments to satisfy the requirements of the entire system design.
  • Transducer Compliance Testing (e.g., 60601-1-2)

Essential Requirements

  • Transducer modeling with KLM or finite element analysis (e.g. COMSOL)
  • Familiarity with s-parameters and chain matrices for circuit analysis
  • High-power and low-power electrical network and component analysis
  • Transducer fabrication and assembly methods, passive and active material development, lamination and bonding, lapping, adhesives, and epoxies
  • Tuning circuit optimization
  • Matching layer development
  • Acoustic metrology, including radiation force balance, acoustic tank measurement, pulse-echo analysis, transmit sensitivity
  • Technical computing capability (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and measurements of power in time and frequency domains
  • Acoustic calibration and look-up table development
  • Comfortable with electronic equipment such as arbitrary waveform generators, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and other project-related equipment

Education/Experience Required

  • Five years of direct experience designing ultrasound transducers
  • MS degree required in an engineering discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, biomedical, materials)
  • Ultrasound therapy transducer design and assembly experience, preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with the engineering team and other departments
  • Experience moving from an idea to a commercial medical device
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, project-oriented
  • Preference for talent with therapeutic medical device industry experience
