Interconnection & Transmission Planning Staffing and Recruitment Specialist | Renewable Energy

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

  • Lead projects through the interconnection process with various Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Transmission Operators (TOs).
  • Support interconnection applications and manage ongoing interconnection studies, including negotiating interconnection agreements.
  • Provide strategic and technical input to Development, Commercial, Finance, Operations, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams for project evaluation and ongoing investment.
  • Assess transmission and interconnection tariffs, costs, timelines, and processes in various markets to guide strategic decisions.
  • Engage with regional and national organizations and policy initiatives to enhance grid access and advocate for regulatory changes for solar and solar-plus-storage projects.
  • Collaborate with developers to evaluate transmission options for project sites.
  • Develop and implement strategies for project interconnection using analytical tools and methods.
  • Support EPC, operations, and maintenance teams during project commissioning and grid integration.
  • Work with utilities to address and resolve integration-related issues, providing technical and strategic solutions.
  • Monitor tariff and policy changes, ensuring the organization is informed about interconnection processes in active markets.
  • Evaluate potential interconnection options for projects, analyzing related costs, benefits, and challenges.
  • Approximately 10% travel required.



Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1-3 years of direct experience in interconnection and transmission planning within North American energy markets.
  • Experience with preliminary transmission cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, public utility commissions, and regulators.
  • Previous experience with renewable development teams is advantageous.
  • Exceptional research skills and ability to utilize publicly available materials effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of power and renewable energy market dynamics, with a preference for experience in U.S. competitive wholesale electricity markets.
  • Ability to stay current with evolving technologies, regulations, and trends in renewable energy.
  • Adaptability to new tasks and dynamic environments.
  • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
