Skillsearch is on the lookout for a skilled Senior UI Artist to join our client's exciting and ambitious start-up in San Francisco. The studio, formed by industry experts from Pixar, Ubisoft, Activision, and Blizzard, is working on a Deckbuilding Roguelike project. This full-time role in the gaming industry comes with an attractive salary and benefits package for your expertise.

The role of the 2D Artist is pivotal within the Creative Design team, contributing significantly to producing artwork that crafts engaging games and delivers exceptional player experiences. You must be able to work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with at least 4 hours per weekday available to work with teams on the US/CAN West Coast (Pacific Time zone).

During your first few weeks in this 2D Artist role, you can expect to begin work on some of the following:

  • Create in-world graphic design, logos, iconography systems, and motion graphics
  • Create polished production art from concept art in a variety of styles
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director to achieve the visual goals
  • Continuously refine designs based on feedback and insights derived from data
  • Assume ownership for adhering to established style guidelines

The ideal candidate for this Senior UI Artist role will have shipped at least one AA/AAA game on a console or PC in the last 3 years and have more than 5 years of experience crafting in-game assets and pristine iconography for games. Additional qualifications include:

  • A robust portfolio highlighting your expertise in generating game icons and diverse in-game elements
  • Proficiency in English, which is the operational language
  • Mastery of digital illustration tools (such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
  • Openness to receiving feedback and refining work while upholding a fresh perspective
  • Capability to work within established artistic styles
