UX Designer _ Remote _ 1 year

Kaeppel Consulting is seeking an UX Designer for a client in the higher ed. industry.

Position: UX Designer (Up to 40 hours a week)

Location: Remote

Duration: This is a long-term role at least one year in duration

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Modern Campus Omni CMS and a proven track record of designing and configuring large, complex college or university websites. This role involves creating and documenting design language systems, ensuring WCAG AA compliance, and delivering training to staff content contributors.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and configure college/university websites using Modern Campus Omni CMS
  • Create and document elements for a design language system based on existing brand guidelines
  • Ensure all designs meet WCAG AA compliance standards for accessibility
  • Collaborate with content contributors to deliver training and ensure effective use of the CMS
  • Develop user personas, flow diagrams, and conduct user testing to refine and improve the user experience
  • Participate in content strategy, content audits, and SEO optimization
  • Utilize design tools such as Figma, UXPin, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite to create UI elements and prototypes
  • Conduct quality assurance to ensure the usability and functionality of the website
  • Work within Agile project management frameworks to deliver projects on time and within scope
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with Modern Campus/Omni CMS
  • Extensive experience designing and configuring large, complex college or university websites
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX design projects, including design language systems and accessibility compliance
  • Experience creating and delivering training to staff content contributors
  • Deep understanding of WCAG AA compliance standards
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies
  • Proficiency in user personas, flow diagrams, and user testing
  • Knowledge of content strategy, content audits, SEO, and AI content generation tools is a plus
  • Proficient in design tools such as Figma, UXPin, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
