Vice President, North American Administration

This role stands as the Administration leader within UMPG’s North America territory. In this position you will lead and support an inter-disciplinary team managing the Administration duties and workflows for writers and contract partners signed within the U.S. and Canada. The departments under this leader’s remit include Copyright, Mechanical Licensing, Royalty Processing, Income Tracking and Analytics, Client Services, and Royalty Audits.

This position will develop and lead an efficient world class Administration team ensuring that it meets our clients’ current and future requirements in an evolving operational landscape with full alignment to Global Administration’s greater strategy and standards. In addition to leading internal teams and projects, this position will be tasked with maintaining and developing external relationships with performance and mechanical societies in the U.S. and Canada, digital service providers, and other licensees. This position will own internal KPI and other reporting to Senior Management and Executives across several disciplines (Business Affairs, Finance, Global Administration, etc.).

The ideal candidate would be a proven leader that is adaptable, comfortable working in high-pressure situations, and ready to lead the department into the future. This position reports to the SVP, Global Administration with dotted line reporting to the EVP, North America Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective management and motivation of all North America Administration staff; ensure that the department performs as a cohesive and effective unit.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop employees into future leaders.
  • Implement and maintain our internal control environment.
  • Represent North America Administration’s technical requirements to the Global Technology team as they develop new software and capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and nurture relationships with key clients and signings.
  • Represent UMPG externally in the industry (including but not limited to ASCAP, BMI, MLC, SOCAN, CMRRA, and any related operation groups).
  • Foster relationships and work towards improving service levels with the major income source organizations noted above.
  • Refine and progress department processes, taking advantage of all current and future technical systems and solutions.
  • Own the deal implementation process, ensuring all delivered agreements, songs, and catalogs are implemented correctly and timely.
  • Develop strong cross-disciplinary relationships around the world to support both local and global initiatives and priorities.

Requirements

  • Music Publishing industry experience in Operations, Administration, or other related field required (10+ years).
  • At least 5+ years’ experience managing high-performing and high-volume teams with experience managing managers.
  • Comfortable working well in and navigating ambiguity, with an ability to break down and communicate complex ideas into tangible and easy to understand thoughts and actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a strong ability to communicate effectively with Senior Management, Executives, and other local and international colleagues.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented. A self-starter who takes initiative and is resourceful; takes ownership of tasks and projects.

Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business
