The VP of Engineering will take the helm in directing and supervising all engineering endeavors concerning the enhancement, creation, and refinement of manufacturing processes and products. A key aspect of this role entails leading enhancements by utilizing feedback to propel profitable growth. You will be managing a diverse team of engineers, overseeing research and development, and maintaining quality standards, all while fostering close collaboration with departments like operations, production, and supply chain.


Job Overview:

As a direct report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the VP of Engineering assumes responsibility for guiding Scan Pac's leadership team in fostering a culture of top-tier manufacturing excellence. This entails providing comprehensive leadership, tools, and protocols. The VP will oversee engineering, research and development, and quality operations.


Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and communicate the engineering vision, strategy, and objectives aligned with the overall business goals.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the engineering, R&D, and Quality team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Manufacturing Process Optimization:

  • Lead efforts to optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to streamline operations and reduce waste.


Product Development and Innovation:

  • Oversee the design and development of new products, ensuring alignment with market demands and customer requirements.
  • Drive innovation in product design, materials, and manufacturing technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the market.


Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as operations, production, and supply chain to ensure seamless integration of engineering initiatives.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and market trends, influencing product development and manufacturing strategies accordingly


Team Management and Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team capable of delivering strategic objectives.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to team members, fostering their professional growth and development.


Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and quality assurance protocols in all engineering activities.
  • Implement robust quality control measures to maintain product quality and reliability.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation:

  • Develop and manage the engineering department budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in engineering operations.

Other Duties:

  • Develop and maintains critical quality documents including Quality policies, standard operating procedures, ISO procedures, PPAP, and create and maintain control plans for production.
  • Establish, track, and report on project status, quality standards and other key performance metrics.
  • Developing and continuous improvement of quality inspection procedures for production processes.
  • Follow up on defective trends – meet with responsible managers, develop improvement plans, provide historical data, etc. Document nonconformance and facilitate a timely disposition of the nonconformance.
  • Perform all job duties following 5S/LEAN Manufacturing requirements and according to all safety policies.
  • Special projects as assigned.


Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in engineering leadership roles within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong technical expertise in manufacturing processes, product design, and engineering principles.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and driving innovation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols.
  • Solid track record of incorporating sound quality principles to drive effective solutions.

  • Experience working with ERP and Quality Management Systems preferred.
