Job Description Summary

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Vice President, Corporate Finance will be responsible for overseeing the teams managing the Enterprise corporate finance functions. These functions include Corporate Finance which is responsible for managing the accounting and closing process, consolidation activities and management and board reporting, accounts receivable, shared services accounting and corporate allocations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax & Compliance, and Payroll & Benefits Accounting. Each functional area is led by a Director responsible for managing daily functions and partnering with the business to drive the strategic direction and business outcomes with data-driven analysis and financial expertise. This role will be responsible for leading and mentoring these finance leaders and providing oversight of their finance operations, currently a team of 15. In addition, this position must have a good understanding of the businesses in which Enterprise engages and be able to collaborate with all levels of management and will have a prominent role in evaluating new initiatives. The position will interact frequently and coordinate with the divisional finance VPs along with the Treasury department. This position also serves in a fiduciary role by ensuring that financial controls are designed and operated in a manner that safeguards Enterprise assets.

The ideal candidate must be able to communicate clearly and concisely the financial outcomes of the organization, provide information and trending that informs decision making and assist senior management in applying the information to business strategies.

A CPA is required. Experience with government grants is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Job Description

The Successful Candidate Will Have Strong And Diverse Accounting And Finance Experience And Will Be Able To Manage Enterprise’s Financial Systems, Processes, And Controls. The Vice President, Corporate Finance Will Work Closely With The CFO And All Finance Leads, Key Internal Stakeholders, External Consultants And Auditors, And The Finance And Audit Committees. Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Providing the CFO, management team and business partners with useful, accurate and timely data and analysis to support strategic decision-making. This includes providing advice and information that helps the organization operate as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Providing leadership and support for all financial and operational aspects of Enterprise, including effectively guiding, supporting, and monitoring financial transactions; providing advice on business formation and structures.
  • Supporting the planning, analysis and efficient execution of the organization capital and strategic plans. This includes the continued use of automation and analytical tool to support the business.
  • Assisting in evaluating strategic and operational opportunities that support growth; managing financial analyses for acquisitions and ownership in controlled entities.

With Corporate Finance Directors

  • Managing internal and external financial reporting and corporate audit engagements. Additionally, managing forecasting, budgeting, A/P, A/R and G/L maintenance processes which include extensive consolidations of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) and for-profit entities.
  • Overseeing preparation of Finance/Audit committee and board materials; serving as lead in the preparation of talking points, ongoing enhancements to materials, ensuring materials tell the story of our financial picture and are compelling, informative, and actionable.
  • Overseeing the corporate accounting function, responsible for providing finance business partner support to shared services leads, and providing support for budget, forecast, analysis and cost allocation efforts.
  • Formulating positions and developing internal white papers on complex accounting and tax issues, working closely with CPA firm leadership to achieve buy-in on positions taken.
  • Ensuring an environment of unquestionable integrity and strong internal financial controls; coordinating regular updates to accounting policy and procedures manual with finance leads.
  • Overseeing the Financial Planning & Analysis function, which includes the corporate reports development team and responsibility for leading and coordinating the timeline and consolidation of the organization forecast, budget, multi-year projection and capital planning processes.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the production of the corporate 990-financial reports and supporting the government grant single audit as needed.
  • Overseeing the payroll & benefits accounting function, ensuring that processes are effectively and efficiently coordinated with HR, employees are paid accurately and timely, that federal, state, and local tax changes are updated appropriately, and that all benefit and retirement plan filings, payments and tests are appropriately managed.
  • Overseeing the corporate tax & compliance function for the organization, which includes all aspects of corporate tax reporting and filings (990s, tax returns, etc.), and managing tax engagements. Responsibilities also include updating/maintaining transfer pricing studies, and identifying and analyzing tax planning opportunities, process improvements and potential structural changes. Act as internal tax advisor to divisional staff on new entity and/or deal structures.
  • Serving as collaborative member of the Enterprise team that continually strives for improvements to operations, reporting and communication, working with others to improve processes to be more effective for the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Team Development

  • Supervising, motivating, developing, and enhancing the performance of 4 director-led teams, comprising approximately 16 employees.
  • Providing active/regular and timely performance and development feedback, and timely and thorough goal setting and reviews.
  • Setting and communicating departmental goals so that employees understand them and how they support organizational goals.
  • Delegating responsibilities to direct reports and encouraging direct report participation in special projects.
  • Developing team members to continually strive for improvements to operations, reporting and communication, and encouraging them to work with others to improve processes to be more effective for the organization.

Qualifications:

  • A CPA is required, MBA is desirable.
  • Minimum of 12++ years’ finance and accounting experience; some public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory management experience required.
  • Strong financial, analytical, organizational, technology and quantitative skills, and ability to coordinate complex activities, prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines.
  • Must be highly motivated, able to work independently and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience in Board reporting and committee support is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics and professionalism in interpersonal relations and work as an effective team member.
  • In depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and customary disclosure requirements to aid in managing external audits and preparation of audited financial statements preferred.
  • Knowledge of non-profit/corporate taxes and multi-company/state income tax calculations a plus.
  • Knowledge of real estate terminology and concepts; knowledge of financial services industry and LIHTC are desirable.
  • Experience in working with government grants is a plus.
  • Experience with Workday Financials desirable; and Advanced Excel skills, including macros and database functions a plus.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours during peak periods

Location

  • Position is based in Columbia, MD. Currently the Company offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule and this position requires a minimum of 2-3 days a week in office (hybrid schedule subject to change).
  • Minimal travel – estimate 1x quarter or less – typically to other Enterprise offices.

The base salary for this role is $228,000 to $305,000, depending on level of skills and experience.

The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the amount to be paid for the position. Salaries paid at Enterprise will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance. The salary range is just a part of the total rewards package provided to employees at Enterprise, and other rewards may include annual performance bonuses and generous paid leave programs.
