The role will be to investigate and drive business opportunities associated with the current and emerging water treatment process in supporting equitable water access in alignment with the company’s core strategies. Support and participate in on-going research in the field of molecular biology and advanced chemical testing. Provide input, guidance, and direction of these technologies in support of targeted clients who may benefit from the advances in the adoption of these concepts. Provide hands on PoC/Pilot development working with team members to abstract data for integration in company software and hardware platforms.

DUTIES/RESULTS

  • Contribute to environmental business planning process.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory policy and industry trends, enabling the business to adapt strategically and to align innovation to the needs within our chosen markets.
  • Engage and support day-to-day technical and commercial engagements in water advancement.
  • Monitor and provide insights into competitor behaviors and evolving industry trends.
  • Collaborate with other Yokogawa peer technologists within the company providing guidance and insights into solutions implementation.
  • Develop and support sales and marketing collateral.
  • Collaborate with academia, research institutes, selected partners, external clients, and internal stakeholders to develop strategies and plans to improve Yokogawa’s market position.
  • Be fiscally aware and responsible and adhere to company guidelines.
  • Report on activities.

Specifications

Education: Preference is a PhD in molecular biology, chemistry, environmental science, or environmental engineering; active membership in current industry specific associations.

Experience

  • Can demonstrate 10 years min. experience in molecular biologist/chemical engineering with experience in direct pathogen/ indirect surrogate detection in industrial, academic, government and/or clinical settings.
  • Experience in advanced water treatment processes and water reuse practices.
  • Scientific communication skills documenting and presenting work to both public, scientific, continued education audiences. Bonus would be published works in trade/industry journals and publications.
  • Familiarity with codes and regulations related to water pollution control, emerging contaminants, and treatment processes.
  • Experience with pathogen identification, PCR testing process, and fluorescence spectroscopic testing process.
  • Experience with experimental design and with laboratory organization
  • Analyzing and rationalizing data protocols and meta data formats
  • Understanding and/or experience of AI/ML statistical techniques
  • Exposure to Decision Quality processes
  • Proven track record of collaborating in a team environment, being flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Strong empathy for the planet, people, and general well-being. Understanding of the UN SDGs.
  • Fluent with office productivity tools, Seismic, SalesForce, Microsoft products (TEAMS, OneDrive, OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Travel: Position requires some travel, 25% - 50%
