- [Instructor] So far in this storage series, we have looked at some concepts for reliability, security and performance. But we've missed one key pillar of a well-architected solution, and that's cost optimization. Costs for Azure storage at a basic level is made up of three components: the cost to store the data, the operations on the data, in other words, the number of read and write transactions, and the data transfer, which is the movement per gigabyte. The cost of these also increases through the redundancy levels as you are storing more copies and replicating more data. At the end of each billing cycle, these three components are summed to create the cost of storing your data. Do not forget this doesn't include costs to retrieve data out of Azure, transfer between regions, or between peered VNets. So placement of data with respect to the applications that are requesting the data is a key consideration.…
