- [Instructor] The massive increase in Internet of Things devices, such as smart factory equipment, wireless inventory trackers or smart home security systems has led to an explosion of data being collected at the Edge. This has led to many challenges when trying to consume and use the data. Some IoT devices may not have a continuous high-speed connection back to cloud compute. They may be completely offline or have intermittent connectivity with low-latency. Due to the sheer volume of data, it may not be possible to stream to a cloud provider for processing, and retrieve insights to act on in real-time. For example, think of an autonomous vehicle. It must cause correct as soon as conditions change. Processing at the Edge is where Azure SQL Edge can be utilized.
