Data protection for Blobs in Azure Storage
- Protecting data is always the responsibility of the customer when storing data in the cloud. You can of course set a delete lock at the storage account level to protect the entire account from being deleted. But what about the data within the account? The Microsoft recommendation for basic protection of blobs in an Azure storage account is to add a resource delete lock to the storage account and to enable soft delete so that delete containers can be restored, along with blob versioning so that modifications and deletions can be reverted back to. For the full recommendation, which is the highest cost, blob soft delete should also be enabled so that the base blob, earlier versions of blobs and snapshots can also be restored. The settings for blob storage protection are under the data protection menu on the left hand side for a storage account and are shown for storage accounts that can support blobs. For this demo…
