- [Instructor] Sometimes there is a requirement to partially obfuscate data from users based on their job role. This can be achieved using dynamic data masking. If you think about security checks that happen when you speak to your bank, you may be asked to provide the last two digits of your post code or zip code and the last three digits of your phone number. This is likely to be due to the member of the bank being unable to see the other digits as they will be masked to protect personally identifiable information or other types of sensitive data. Masking data in this way is a feature of dynamic data masking in SQL Server and is applied without having to change application code. To set up and demo dynamic data masking, I have already created two Azure AD users, one for support desk and one for supervisor. All within the Red30Tech.com domain.
