- [Instructor] Business critical data for an organization may often have requirements from regulatory, corporate, or security policies. These policies often require that some blobs are stored in a WORM state. This stands for write once, read many. In other words, once the blob is written, it cannot be modified. This is known as immutability. Blobs in Azure Storage can be placed into a WORM state by enabling immutable storage and its associated policies. Immutable storage for blobs has two types of policies: time-based retention and legal holds. Both policies, when in force, ensure that data can be created and read but not deleted and modified. Time-based retention will ensure the data is retained for a specified duration. This is between one day and 400 years. Once the retention policy is over, the data can be deleted but never modified.
