- Many entrepreneurs and freelancers face some specific challenges to balance. When you own your own business, the tendency is to look forward to the ultimate harvest. A future when it all pays off, either because you've sold your business, or you've saved enough for retirement. As I've coached business owners, I've seen a pattern that hurts work-life balance. Their dream of that ultimate harvest gets pushed further and further into the distance. This leads entrepreneurs to continually sacrifice time, health, relationships, and money for a future outcome, that candidly, often doesn't happen the way they expected. The solution is what I call an oasis strategy. An oasis is a moment when you get to enjoy the fruits of being a business owner, right now. It's a moment to have a little fun and enjoy life.
