- You can do pretty much anything you want in terms of networking from the Windows command line using the net command. Now, I need to warn you, the net command is incredibly old and extremely complicated. So I'm just going to hit on a few of the big net commands that you'll find yourself using from time to time. So there's a lot more to it, but these are the big ones and this is what you're going to see on the exam. So let's start off with the net command. I've logged in as administrator on my Windows 7 system cause I like Windows 7. This command's the same no matter what version of Windows and let's start playing with the net command a little bit. First thing I want to do is just type net by itself. Net by itself gives you an idea of all the different types of net commands you can type.
