Rendition of value and context

- Several techniques are used to help a drawing's readability. We can profile the edges and vary the line thicknesses as we've seen before, and we can use shading and patterns. All of these techniques help make a drawing read and allow us to emphasize areas and direct attention to certain aspects of the drawing. Let me show you a few areas where we can use patterning or hatching to help emphasize the aspects that we want to pop out in a drawing. I'm going to start with our isometric illustration that we did in a previous video. We've got this hole right here that cuts through the block, and it's not really super clear right now that that hole actually penetrates through, but we can improve that readability by adding some tonal value to the surface inside of there. Now, the first thing I want to do is actually clean this up a little bit. I've got a lot of extra line work here, and I could get rid of some of that just using my electric eraser here.
