- I can adjust the display on my oscilloscope to zoom in or out. So I can see different parts of signals by changing the bolts per division, along the vertical axis and the seconds per division, along the horizontal axis. Changing the vertical scale allows me to view signals with a wide range of amplitudes and changing the horizontal scale gives me a better view of signals that change quickly or slowly. My oscilloscope scope is currently measuring the output of the calibration signal. To zoom in on the vertical axis, I'll use the vertical scale knob to change the volts per division. At the moment, my vertical scale is set to 500 millivolts per division. When I turn this knob counter-clockwise. That will increase the number of volts per division, which has the effects of making my wave form look shorter.
