Range names

- [Instructor] "What's in a name?" you might say. Well, a name is easier to remember than a cell address. Range names are an important feature of Excel. You can name cells which contain important inputs of your calculation model, and then you can write formulas and use those names in the formula. It's way easier to recognize a word like roof length in your formula than F12. Range names also allow you to work around some limitations that Excel has. Let's go back to our Solar Panel Calculator, and let's name cells F12 and F13 RoofLength and RoofWidth, respectively. There are various ways to define new names, and I find the easiest one to click in the name box, which is to the left of your formula bar over here, and just type in the name RoofLength.
