- [Instructor] So when I was designing this panel calculator originally I started off with entering the width and the length of the panels manually like you see here. So when I published this, my colleagues started complaining that and said to me, "Well, I mean I have to look up those panel length and panel widths every time. Can't you make it so that Excel looks that information up for me?" So like you, I work in engineering. So I already have a list of solar panels right here in the workbook and look here. It has a width and length column. So why don't I let my colleagues select a panel ID from a dropdown list and then let Excel do the looking up? Excel has several functions to look up information and as I won't be wasting your time, I will discuss just the crucial ones. So here's my reworked panel calculator and notice how I created a dropdown here that allows you to select a panel ID. I use data validation for this…
