- [Instructor] So after we created that virtual machine, I showed you all the different Azure resources that get created to support that virtual machine, including some networking resources. And just like your virtual machine, the networking resources that you saw are virtualized network devices that emulate a physical computer network. These networking resources, along with a lot of others available in Azure, are used to create a software-defined virtual network that allows your virtual machine to communicate with other resources. In fact, just like a virtual machine is a virtual computer that runs on a real computer, a virtual network is a virtual software-defined network that runs on top of a physical computer network. And this allows you to create exactly the same network infrastructure you need when you deploy your apps and services to Azure.
