- [Host] The anatomy of a design system starts with design system foundations. What makes up design system foundations? Design system foundational elements are the visual elements used to create engaging guidance and principle driven applications. So here are some examples, we have color, which distinguishes the brand and creates a cohesive experience. We have grids. They're used for positioning elements on the screen. So whether you're working on a desktop or a mobile app or maybe some other type of touch interface, we use grids. We have iconography, which is the visual representation for commands, devices, and common actions. We have illustrations which should reflect complex ideas that users can emotionally relate to.
