- You've made it through the prescreen and now you're speaking to the hiring manager or a senior member of the team who will pass on feedback to the hiring manager. Hiring managers are evaluating your fit for the role and for their team. They want to make sure that you can handle the work and that you're someone who will bring some strengths to the team. If you get the job, the hiring manager is the person you'll be reporting to. They'll have a high amount of influence over your career and there's someone that you'll want to work with closely and establish mutual trust during your working relationship. Yes, you are the one being assessed for the role, but you should also be assessing your potential manager and the role itself to make sure it's what you want and that it's a good fit for your career ambitions.
