- Now before you start wireframing, it's important that you choose the right tool for the job. I've had a lot of people ask me about designing infographics in InDesign versus Illustrator, or even versus Photoshop. Given this, I felt that it was important to discuss why Adobe illustrator is the preferred tool for the job. First, consider the fact that the best ways to deliver visual information are through iconography, data visualizations, and custom illustrations. Infographics that use stock vector assets or stock photos rarely see any success. This is because we must rely on text to properly contextualize a stock asset, since the stock assets are made to cover a variety of topics, rather than being designed to be a specific representation of a key piece of information.
