- [Instructor] In this video, I want to cover the basics of formatting text and a document. This is how you set the size, color, font, and other visual aspects of your text. But first, most people already know how to write text in a document, this blinking cursor is where the text will go when you start typing and you can click anywhere in the document to set that blinking cursor. So I could click here at the beginning of this line to set the cursor there, and then I can just type in some text. You'll probably also know if you hit the return key, it will start a new line, but to be completely clear, hitting the return key in Microsoft Word starts a new paragraph, and we'll see paragraph formatting in a moment, so it's important to know that one paragraph ends and another begins when you hit the return key.
