Dos and don'ts: How to disagree with your boss
- Ever find yourself disagreeing with your boss, but you don't know how to express it tactfully? Here are some dos and don'ts that are recommended by Harvard Business Review. Do paraphrase what you heard to make sure you heard their point correctly. Don't state your perspective as the truth or the facts. Do tell them you have a different take on it and say you'd like to share it. Don't assume it's a relationship killer if you do. Do stick to the facts, statistics or actual events. Don't use judgment-laden words like faulty, silly, wrong or rash. Give these a try next time you see things differently from your boss.
