Start quickly with a theme or template

- [Jess] If you want to get up and running quickly, PowerPoint comes with a very large selection of templates and design themes to get you started. Click File on the top left-hand side of the screen, and then select New. This is also where it takes you when you open up PowerPoint with no presentation open. To get started looking for themes where it says Suggested searches, click on Themes. Now, you can scroll to this list and choose a design team that you like or that will fit with what you're trying to present. Sometimes you do have more options. For example, if I click on this Ion Boardroom theme, I can click on it once. And here, I can choose from several color variants. Not every theme will have these variations. I can also scroll through and see some more images of what's included in the content layout. If I'm happy with this, I'll click the big, red Create button and my presentation is created. And now, from the Home ribbon tab, I can click Layout and see all the various layouts that I can choose from for my presentation. So this is a design theme. But sometimes you also want to get started with the content already in place and you can do that with a template. So let's go back again and click File. I'll click New again. But this time, instead of clicking themes and choosing a built-in theme, I'm going to search for template. As long as I have an internet connection, I can come in here into the search box and type a search to get started. For example, certificate. (keyboard typing loudly) I'll hit the Enter key on my keyboard and it's going to go online and search for them. I now have lots of templates to choose from. I'll choose a certificate. Click the Create button and it's going to download it and open it up in PowerPoint. You'll notice that the text is already in place and that's the main difference between a template and a theme. All I have to do now is click inside and exchange the information. For example, I'll click inside the name that it was awarded to. Highlight the text and replace it with my own. (keyboard typing loudly) And I can come inside any of these other placeholders and change that text also. (keyboard typing loudly) I can change any of the details I want. And that is a nice looking certificate. I could save this. I could print it out and be ready to go.
