- Now, let's learn why employee agreements should be easy to understand and about the important clauses that are unique to creative firms that are often overlooked by lawyers or off the shelf contracts. While you may have a lawyer draft your agreements, be aware that lawyers often complicate matters by adding obtuse and often unnecessary legalese and terms that make the agreement hard to understand. If you engage with a lawyer, ask them to write an agreement without abstract and long-winded legalese so that your employees and you actually reads and understands what is written. Not all lawyers can do this, so find the right one. Lawyers also rarely understand the uniqueness of our industry. So in this lesson, I will only cover those clauses often overlooked by lawyers.
