Dark patterns

- [Narrator] This last type of design pattern is dangerous because it indicates neglect, disregard, and malicious intent. Dark patterns lead people to interact in ways they would not have otherwise chosen, and to make choices or perform actions that may not be in their best interests. Harry Brignull has studied and identified multiple types of dark patterns describing each, providing examples, and suggesting better solutions. Dark patterns, often place the business, advertiser, and or product owner's interests above those of the people using their products and services. Dark patterns erode trust because they are associated with violations of privacy, theft of money and information, and the installation of malware. I strongly encourage you to learn more. Be aware of how technology may be misused, and to avoid the abuse caused by dark patterns. Subscription management services, unfortunately, commonly employ dark patterns.…
