- [Rick] In this video, we'll learn how we can use Netflow with a vSphere distributed switch to aggregate a traffic history. So with Netflow, what we're trying to do is we are trying to collect information, about all of the traffic that's flowing through my network. And this is, again, another feature that's only supported on the vSphere distributed switch. And NetFlow is nothing new. This has been around for years and years and years. It is used in physical networks all over the world. And it is used to track traffic, and basically sends summaries of that network traffic to a centralized server. And the vSphere distributed switch can also do this. So here we see our vSphere distributed switch, and I've got these virtual machines that are connected to it. I've got a centralized appliance called a NetFlow Collector. My vSphere distributed switch is connected to a switch in my physical network.
