NitroVolt Secures Funding To Further Scale Its Technology Danish startup NitroVolt has announced a significant pre-seed investment of €750,000 from Swedish venture capital firm BackingMinds. This investment aims to support the development and scaling of NitroVolt’s “Nitrolyzer” unit, a groundbreaking technology designed to produce ammonia in a more environmentally friendly manner. Suzanne Zamany Andersen, CEO & Co-founder of NitroVolt, emphasized the transformative potential of their technology: “Our technology makes it possible to produce ammonia locally and puts the end user in control of the production. This means that the production becomes resilient to supply chain volatility and green simultaneously – something that doesn’t exist on the market today.” Mattia Saccoccio, CTO & Co-founder, shared their ambitious goals for scaling the technology: “With the new funding, we’re moving out of the university and hiring the competencies we need to scale our technology. This is a team we have tracked since inception in Europe and it is truly remarkable to see the progress over the past decade! Congratulations to Paris-based hardware/hardtech-focused early-stage venture capital fund manager HCVC on the final closing of their second fund at $75 million! This is the right sizing for a fund in this stage and has the potential for outsized MOICs across the fund. With HCVC’s new fund, the VC firm plans to conduct up to 40 investments, which means roughly 10 deals per year. On average, HCVC will be able to invest anything between €250,000 and €2.5 million per deal ($260,000 to $2.6 million). Themes include climate, biotech, robotics, space and others. As for the limited partners, HCVC raised money from the European Investment Fund (EIF), Isomer Capital and Molten Ventures, as well as several individual investors, such as Albert Wenger (managing partner at Union Square Ventures), John Elkann (chairman of Stellantis and Ferrari) and Toto Wolff (team principal and CEO of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team). Investment in defence technology start-ups is picking up speed in Europe, says the head of Nato’s €1bn venture capital fund, who believes the region can produce several potential multibillion-dollar companies to rival those in the US. The Nato Innovation Fund kicked off its investment programme at the start of this year by backing four start-ups directly, including Wales-based Space Forge with its plans to produce novel materials in space. The fund also put money in four VC funds that focus on “deep tech”, such as robotics, artificial intelligence, space and energy. https://lnkd.in/eqyZcjvj
