“It’s lonely at the top.”
Reminder: Join me for my in-depth conversation with Elliot Roe on the latest episode of ScaleX™ Insider where we discussed how to unlock your potential and become the best you. In this episode, Elliot reminded me of feedback I frequently hear from business leaders on our ScaleX™ Accelerator programme. “It’s lonely at the top.”
This phrase encapsulates the often-solitary journey of business leaders, where decision-makers shoulder immense responsibilities and face challenges that few can fully comprehend. Amidst the demands of scaling a business, leaders may find themselves isolated from peers, friends, and even family, as their roles necessitate tough choices and unwavering dedication. Recognising this inherent loneliness is crucial for maintaining resilience.
As Elliot confirmed, the only way to achieve success and to overcome loneliness is through joining networks of your peers and creating your own tribe that you can lean on and exchange ideas.
How do you navigate the challenge of feeling isolated, as echoed by Elliot Roe's insight, "It's lonely at the top"?
To listen and seeking support networks to navigate the complexities of business growth effectively.

Have you ever left a conversation wondering how on earth the other person cannot see your point of view?
From your side, it’s as clear as day. You’ve presented your evidence and explained your points, but somehow… they just don’t get it. They remain rooted in their side of the debate. You’ve failed to provide proof that you are right and they are wrong. How frustrating…..but here’s why:
As humans, our brain has a unique feature: the ability to create context.
For every situation, we bring our own context. Our own assumptions. Our own solutions. All based on our own experience.
Conversations are no different. They can go spectacularly wrong all due to context and neither side recognising it. It happens easily because, again, as humans, we think we are just being logical.
If you’d like to know more, check out the clip below - an episode from the vaults - where I explain how the human brain creates context. The key difference between context and logic. Most importantly, why, especially as leaders, it’s essential to understand the context from the other side.
Conversations have the power (like nothing else) to either connect or divide… what outcome would you rather have?
