Value-based care took center stage at this year's conference, sparking meaningful conversations.  Nancy G. Many patients do not know if a novel clinical trial is enrolling for their condition, often due to a lack of engagement. Physicians for these patients may not know about these trials, so they are unable to refer and further help their patients receive access to new possible cures. Maternal morbidity and mortality rates in the US are higher than in peer countries - and the disparities in outcomes for people of colour are stark. And while evidence does exist for how to identify people at highest risk for complications and which interventions are most effective, existing data gaps and provider capacity challenges make it extremely difficult to apply these interventions at scale. Pomelo Care founded in 2021 by Marta Bralic Kerns seems to be finding a way though. It's a virtual medical practice that now covers 3 million lives and has published peer-reviewed data proving an improvement in clinical outcomes. Pomelo Care has also just secured $46 million in Series B financing to expand - bringing total funding to $79 million, and much-needed optimism to the maternal care space. Today is #nationalruralhealthday, and as a leader addressing the number one category that costs patients their lives--cardiology--we're proud to support our rural healthcare colleagues. Care access in remote and rural areas is a very serious challenge, as is maintaining quality of care and improvements toward the Quadruple Aim with lower ratios of providers to patients. Our rural colleagues are true champions of healthcare despite geographic challenges, and it is our hope that technologies like ours will enable them to care for their patients with greater ease, efficacy, and accuracy. AI knows no geographic boundaries! Did you know? - Rural patients are 19% more likely to develop heart failure than their urban counterparts, according to a recent NIH-funded study, and black men in rural areas are 34% more likely to develop heart failure - Rural patients are 20.99% more likely to die of heart disease - Less than 8% of all physicians choose to practice in a rural area in the US, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges - 64% of rural providers struggle to find a specialist for referrals in their geography - All-cause age-adjusted mortality rates are 7% higher in rural areas in the US, according to the National Center for Health Statistics

【Promoting Sickle Cell Trait Awareness and Education: A Typology of Interventions in the United States to Inform Ongoing Efforts to Patients and Providers】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gYuqzb54 (Authored by Stacey Cunnington and Jacey Greece, from Boston University School of Public Health, USA.) #Sickle_Cell_Disease (SCD), which is a different condition than sickle cell trait, is typically the focus of awareness and education efforts in this space. At present, studies show that there is a severe lack of awareness and understanding of sickle cell trait and the associated health complications among sickle cell trait carriers and healthcare providers. This study conducts a #scoping_review of United States-based sickle cell trait interventions and the messaging within those #interventions and performs a content analysis to identify the categories and characteristics of different efforts in an effort to inform future efforts. 

In response to the growing impact of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) on global health, Digital Health Interventions (DHIs) are emerging as transformative solutions. These interventions, showcased by platforms such as Kidney BEAM and My Kidneys, empower CKD patients by enhancing health literacy and enabling self-management. However, challenges persist, including barriers to engagement for vulnerable populations and complexities in DHI implementation. Despite these challenges, DHIs offer hope for equitable healthcare access and improved outcomes in CKD management.
