Beer Committees - A Cornerstone of Governance I’ve been thinking about a conversation with a Beer Committee friend at a rugby club. You can’t underestimate how important that role is. - you are there the fulfil the club mission (keep beer drinkers happy to generate the profits that keep the club running) -collectively making good decision is challenging (agreeing on beer choices and prices where opinions run deep requires skillful negotiation) -monitoring and evaluation (you live with the consequences of your decisions every time you stand at the bar, and people tell you exactly what they think) People preforming governance activities exist in lots of communities. Doing lots of effective governance, but it’s not spoken about as ‘governance’. It’s worth looking at what already exists. Beer Committees might be a good place to start. Here’s a story about it ⬇️

What a super cool case study this is for us! This engagement was very niche, but ended up a total win-win-win situation for all partners involved-- for Hibs, because they could cater to fan preferences while also being comfortably certain in the choices they were making based on the data collected from asking them directly, Pilot Brewing because the poll responses and suggestions from fans in the comments provided amazing insights into what they purchase presently and what they would purchase in the future, and for Social Asking because it showed the power of our tool used in a commercially partnered way--creating a quick way to build a revenue stream for both the club and the brand. 🙌 #SocialAsking #fanengagement #brandawareness #consumerresearch

Messi fever in Miami: good for the economy hopefully good for the Florida Craft Beer Industry. There are two things I want to draw attention to with this clip: 1) I don't care for beer being referred to as 'suds' no reason in particular. 2) Multiple taprooms and one brewery: Prison Pals, like many breweries across the nation and in Florida has multiple taprooms all fed from one main brewery location. With the way laws are currently structured in Florida: they have to buy their own beer back from a distributor. Unfortunately could mean less money to reinvest in this growing business (and industry) and a more expensive pint. Currently the Florida Brewers Guild is working to address issues holding back the craft beer industry in the state but, as with all things: it's going to take time, patience, and a lot of help contacting our local legislators and asking simple questions like: 1. Why can't breweries distribute their beer to without an unnecessary middle man? (already allowed in 37 other states) 2. Why are the laws written so that lifelong contracts are required between distributors and malt beverage manufacturers? (no other industry has this provision or requirement) 3. Why are licensing fees stuck at a "one size fits all" approach and not based on production? Simple questions with a simple answer: Clean up the laws and get outdated legislation out of the way of our local economy (and get some cheaper beer!) What we need right now are a lot of people to step up and be the 'Lionel Messi' for Florida Craft Beer. We’re taking ecoSPIRITS around the world!   Next year, we’re starting a global programme with ecoSPIRITS to pilot distributing Smirnoff, Gordon’s and Captain Morgan in a keg-style ecoTOTE. Once empty, they will be collected, cleaned, refilled and then re-distributed to participating sites. Designed to be used up to 150 times, they are expected to eliminate the use of up to 1,000 glass bottles over their lifespan! Over the next three years, we’ll be rolling this out to select bars and pubs in an expected 18 markets, and we’re the first spirits producer to sign a partnership of this kind with ecoSPIRITS.   We use kegs for Guinness, so let’s try it on spirits!
