Time certainly flies by when you are re-inventing yourself! This month marks three years for me working at Aldridge Electric.
Prior to working at Aldridge, I was not totally sure about the direction of not only my career, but my life as a whole. When the opportunity to join Aldridge was presented to me, it provided me with a way to start building an identity for myself. Coming from a background with very little construction experience, a couple words I would use to describe my mindset coming into this job would be anxious, scared, and overwhelmed. These same words could have been applied to how I was feeling about myself personally as well.
Fast-forward to today, I am able to look back over the course of my first three years at Aldridge, and feel absolutely humbled in-terms of how far I have come since my first day. I am now someone who, when I first started, I could never picture myself being. I am someone who is more calm, confident, and poised... moreso the opposite of who I was when I first started. This all being said, I am not satisfied.
Each night when I am filling out my planner with the items that I have to complete the next day, I write five words at the top of that next day's list. Those words are:
-Likeable
-Coachable
-Reliable
-Adaptable
-Honorable
These are the words I do my best to focus on and personify each day. Most days I feel I come up short in one or two of these areas. However, I firmly believe that if I continue to do my best to live by these five words, I will succeed as a professional, and far more importantly, as a person.
All of this to say, I am blessed and grateful for where I am and where I am heading; thankful to all of those who are helping along the way.
