👏Started in 2020, the Men of Business (MOB) Academy mission is to work with at risk youth to give them a positive future with an alternative pathway to a career. Most of the boys enter the trades and very few have the resources at home to develop their tech skills. MOB joined the ACS ICT GISP in 2022 and under founder Marco Renai (2024 Australian of the Year for Queensland), have welcomed the engagement from the southeast Queensland tech community, with considerable support from ACS members. ▶ In 2023 and 2024, MOB have been supported by ACS, employees, members and leaders including: · Beau Tydd (past Qld BEC chair) · Mat Eames (past Gold Coast Chapter Chair, current Qld BEC Chair) · Paul Walters (current Gold Coast Chapter Chair) · David Rudduck, CEO of Solis (Australia) · Pablo Farias, CEO and Founder of Zenva Academy · Ann Stevens, Assoc. Lecturer at TAFE Qld and XR Consultant at Imagine Realities · Matthew Jorgensen, Education Pathways and Partnerships Manager at ACS MOB Head of Pathways, Nathan Antonik shared ‘Please never underestimate the impact you have had on these young men over a short amount of time.’ 👉For more information about ACS student-based programs contact Matthew at Matthew.Jorgensen@acs.org.au or follow the link https://lnkd.in/gDEeQy3X Image: Men of Business Head of Pathways Nathan Antonik with Tech Tester participants at Gilmour Space

As the CIO of a large system of schools, it's easy to fall into the trap of prioritising resources in schools that are easiest to reach. This week's visit to our Geraldton office was a powerful reminder. Regional and remote students deserve equal access. We need to regularly ask ourselves how well we're reaching ALL our schools. Here's how we're tackling the challenge: - Targeted Funding: Resources for infrastructure, internet, and educator training in regional areas. - Contextualised Solutions: Invest in technologies tailored to the unique needs of regional and remote schools. - Partnerships: Collaborate with regional organisations and tech companies. Let's break down barriers and create an inclusive learning environment for ALL students. #EdTech #Equity #DigitalInclusion What are your ideas for equitable access to technology? The stats don't lie! This report by the World Internet Project (NZ) highlights what we already know: laptops are in short supply for a lot of people in Aotearoa. The survey found that 5% of households had no laptop or computer whatsoever, while 41% were sharing them between multiple people. In our experience, many of the households in this category have a single laptop which is shared amongst the whole family. Limited access to a computer for homework adversely affects educational outcomes amongst students; equipping them with what they need to learn at home makes a big difference. There are other digital inequities described in the report which provides a good snapshot of our internet use. Take a look:

What is the Business Enterprise Program and why is it important? The Randolph-Sheppard Act, also known as the Business Enterprise Program (BEP), is a federal law that provides opportunities for employment and self-support for people who are blind or have low vision. The BEP gives blind individuals the exclusive right to operate vending facilities on federal and other properties, such as airports, military bases, and government buildings. The Randolph-Sheppard Act is essential for several reasons. First, it provides blind individuals with a valuable source of employment. According to the National Federation of the Blind, the BEP employs over 20,000 blind individuals nationwide. This is a significant number of jobs, and it provides blind people with the opportunity to earn a living and support themselves. Second, the BEP helps to break down stereotypes about blind people. When people see blind individuals running successful businesses, it challenges the perception that blind people cannot be productive members of society. The BEP is a powerful tool for promoting independence and self-reliance for blind people. Finally, the BEP is important because it provides blind individuals with a sense of purpose. Having a career gives blind people a sense of worth and value. It allows them to contribute to society and make a difference in the world. The employment rate for blind people is significantly lower than for the general population. According to the National Federation of the Blind, only about 25% of blind adults are employed full-time. This is a significant disparity, and it is one that the Randolph-Sheppard Act helps to address. The BEP is a valuable program that provides blind individuals with opportunities for employment and self-support. It is an important part of the fight for equality for blind people and a program that should be supported. Imagine a world where our educational system fuels the entrepreneurial spirit instead of suppressing it. Here's how I'm turning this dream into a reality with SHEMROCK & SHEMFORD Group of Schools. 1. Unleashing Creativity: We don't just teach facts, we ignite fires. Our curriculum is designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Each lesson is a journey of discovery that encourages students to think out of the box. 2. Embracing Failure: In the entrepreneurial world, failure is a stepping stone to success. We're instilling this mindset from an early age. Mistakes aren't shamed, they're celebrated as learning opportunities. 3. Practical Learning: Our classrooms are more than four walls. They're incubators for budding business ideas. We're replacing textbooks with hands-on experiences that bring theories to life. 4. Mentorship: We're not just educators, we're mentors. Our faculty is made up of successful entrepreneurs who guide students on their entrepreneurial journey. 5. Community: We're building a community of young visionaries. Are you maximising 'cohort' learning and development? And why this is a great option to look after your future talent. I've always been intrigued by the approach of the Round Square schools – a worldwide network of independent schools who attract students into each cohort from all round the world, many with bursary support. Based on the philosophy of Kurt Hahn (founder of the Outward Bound Schools) the Heads of the collaborating schools envisaged a rich, diverse mix of students who would progress through their schools together, learning to discuss and respect each other's perspectives and cultures, and building strong relationships that would remain long after they had left school. School staff saw each cohort maturing to take their place in society as medics, field workers, lawyers, industrialists, medics, politicians etc – preserving the capacity to reach out to each other for advice, a sounding board, fact check, to solve problems and support. Trustworthy relationships already in place to help get things done. Whether your intake of business entrants is single figures or in the hundreds, generating a powerful cohort culture, can pay dividends throughout each person's career, and benefit the business too. Investing in those early days, by bringing people face to face for days or residentials, sets up that crucial foundation of relationship building - for cohorts of learners that can be increasingly dependent on logging in!

With an aim to provide flexible education financing, institutions have faced a daunting challenge: the complexity of managing varied payment systems. The goodwill to offer tailored payment options often buckled under administrative burdens, making third-party solutions the only viable option. This often resulted in rigid payment demands, impacting enrollment and access to education. Enter Ken42: a game-changer enabling institutions to efficiently handle partial payments in-house. This platform is a bridge between financial flexibility and administrative feasibility, allowing educational providers to offer a helping hand to families without compromising on financial oversight. By simplifying what was once a convoluted process, Ken42 is setting a new standard for financial inclusivity in education. Ken42's solution is a testament to how technology can democratize education by dissolving financial barriers. Institutions are now equipped to offer payment plans that accommodate every family's circumstances, fostering an environment where financial constraints do not hinder educational aspirations. Let’s champion this shift towards a more accessible future in education. #EdTech #FinancialInclusivity #Ken42 #OldVSNew Taskeen Fathima Mahendar Singh Saran Rajendra M Sanchith Reddy Rubina Atwal Shwetha Balnadu Raghav Santhosh Ganesh Raju Bala MS Nikita Sivakumar Simron Mohapatra Naveen Varadarajan Shiv Kumar Janardhanan Niranjan Chaoji SHRUTHI M G
