While the headline around decline seems a bit sensational, the numbers around charitable giving in the United States continue to be quite impressive. Americans gave $557.16 billion to charity in 2023, but at Daffy we believe this number could be much, much larger. We’ve seen incredible results using modern technology to help people put money aside for charity. The key to giving, like many things in personal finance, is setting a goal. Pre-commitment materially increases retirement savings, and a study at the Stockholm School of Economics showed that pre-commitment can increase the amount given to charity by 32%. At Daffy, we help people pre-commit their giving by asking every member to set a goal of how much they want to give to charity each year, and then automate their contributions and donations through their DAF. Despite the small national decrease in individual giving in 2023, we actually saw the average amount per donating Daffy member increase by over 25% in 2023 over 2022 and also saw total contributions grow 425% to over $105 million set aside for charity in 2023.  If you’re looking to increase your giving or others giving, let’s start with a simple solution. Set a goal and set up of recurring contributions and donations to hit it. It's free to get started on daffy.org 🙏 https://lnkd.in/gVJdx8Jg
