What a sales tip… For the longest time, I focused on my prospects problems to drive conversation. Now I focus on appreciating the specific job they do for their business/organization. I spoke with a maintenance Director at a State Park recently, and what got him talking the most was the fact that I brought up how beautiful their park is. This not only made him feel a sense of accomplishment of the job he does on a daily basis, but it also showed him that I care about what he does specifically, which is maintaining the park. This might not always lead to a sale, but what it did do was start a conversation, build a relationship, and in turn open up the opportunity for me to discuss how I can help him more effectively perform his job. Surprisingly enough, before we got off the phone, he thanked me for my time on the call. To make a long story short, don’t just focus on the problem, focus on the passion of person you’re talking to and conversations become effortless. #salesdevelopment #passion #sales #sdr #bdr #salestraining

This person is the SVP of Sales at @Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA operated by Service Corporation International. How can you be an SVP of Sales when your life license is lapsed(?), much less enact training or discipline on sales representatives. This is a prime example of the consolidators in the funeral industry making up rules as they go because they think they can. This type of toxicity (rules for thee but not for me) damages company morale and they need to be held accountable. All leaders that work in any insurance or financial planning field are unequivocally licensed in the field they work in and more specifically in the domain they are charged with training and compliance for the staff they lead. That’s a no brainer. But not for this supposed company that preaches integrity. #despicable

AE’s, you need to have systems in place to succeed in the role. Honestly I thought I had this down to a tea. Until last month I only hit 100% of quota. So I went ahead and spoke to a rep who hit 200%. He taught me the systems he had in place. I looked at his closed won deals vs mine. I was closing deals quick but I was losing on my lengthier deals. If I can close this gap with the new systems he taught me. I can get to 200% this month too. It was as simple as sending value to these lengthier deals every few days or so. This is a reminder to always talk to the top sales reps. Let your ego aside. Mine was getting to me because I thought I had a perfect system. Obviously I didn’t if I only hit 100%. AE’s do you have a solid system in place to close over 100%?

Here’s my go to trick: 👇🏻🎩 1st call (for the last name): *after engaging with the GK” “When they call me back or whenever I connect with them, I’d like to address them as Mr. or Ms. (have them fill in the blank) - is that okay? Trying to be polite / was just how I was raised!” 2nd call (later, for the first name): “Hey (gatekeeper), I think I’m getting my Mr. Smiths mixed up. Always happens on a Monday LOL. Mr. Smith in Human Resources, what was his first name? Boom. You get the idea. And if that doesn’t work, take a visit to Dr. Google and see what you can find 📲 Full proof? Nope! Nothing is.
