Today as we celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue & Development I wanted to reflect on what this means for the teams I work with throughout Eastern Europe, the Balkans and in Turkey. We are a very diverse group and I feel that this only makes us stronger as we pursue our mission through the different divisions of Gi Group Holding (Gi Group, Grafton, Kelly Europe, InToo, Wyser and more) to #ChangeLives. In recent years, there has been so much talk of diversity as a "must have" policy or as part of "feel good" efforts meant to boost businesses' external branding and corporate image. But I can tell you that diversity of thought and experience in the teams that I lead, and among my managerial partners, truly makes our services and our delivery methods better. A few continually visible benefits include - better understanding of markets and candidate/client needs - different approaches to problem-solving and respect of cultural norms - closer team collaboration from individuals who know they are valued On a daily basis I see that the diversity of my teams only makes our business better and stronger - and this across very different markets. 🌟 A Memorable Evening Dedicated to Inclusivity at the Workplace 🌟 Last night TheMerode was truly fun and challenging! I had the privilege of joining forces with inspiring minds at EGN Belgium (Executives' Global Network)’s DE&I peer networking meeting. Our collective goal? To unravel and embrace “Workplace Culture: Creating Inclusivity and Respect for All”. 💡 Unveiling Insights and Personal Journeys Joined by the brilliant Luc Van Driessche from Roche, we ventured into the heart of creating inclusive workplaces. Sharing our stories and challenges, we painted a realistic picture of the hurdles and triumphs in this meaningful journey. 🚀 TMC's Unique Approach: Beyond Just Employees Representing TMC Belgium, I shared our innovative approach to workplace culture. We do not work with employees; we work with 'employeneurs' who thrive in an environment where transparent communication, responsibility, and ownership are the norms. It's about building a community based on shared values, where rules become secondary. 🌐 The Essence of Leadership Redefined I took a moment to reflect on what inclusive leadership really means. It is about more than policies and strategies; it is about building a culture of visible commitment, humility, and understanding. It is about leaders who are aware of their biases, curious about others, culturally intelligent, and champions of collaboration. And let us not forget the crucial role of some key agents of organisational change - the middle management – they are the real game-changers in making employees feel included. 🔗 Let's Keep the Conversation Going The evening was not just about sharing; it was an exchange of ideas and experiences. The insights gained were enlightening and heartening, reaffirming our dedication as a group to crafting workplaces where diversity, equity, and inclusion are deeply ingrained in our DNA.
