Fort Lewis College’s health sciences center demonstrates that expanding campus facilities can be achieved with sustainability at the forefront. The mission? Expand lab space and advance building technology, while boosting energy efficiency and managing operational costs. The result? A cutting-edge, state-of-the-art learning environment with a more environmentally responsible footprint. Fort Lewis College's new health sciences center officially opened its doors to students and faculty in April 2023. #WeSeeBuildingsInADifferentWay #Sustainability #MaximumBuildingControl #EnergyEfficiency Larry Wash Kevin Baxter Greg Davidson Todd Simmonds Keith Segear, SHRM-SCP Jessica Seward Tyler Morse Brad Freeman Perri Richman, MSOP

As we work to establish a new sense of normalcy in the workplace, it is critical that our buildings contribute to our overall health - physical, mental, and neurological. How do we create buildings to be truly inclusive? There are so many dimensions to this dialog that have never been discussed in a holistic manner. We tend to focus on one or two elements mostly - like indoor air, or sustainability, but have we ever considered the overall impact of our built environment on a diverse range of individuals? I wonder........ Thank you Lisa Jasinski for a wonderful article and adding value by suggesting a few implications for practice
As a 2023-24 fellow of Society for College and University Planning, I was asked to write about a session that impacted me during the recent annual meeting. I was really blown away by this new building at Stanford University. I'm continuing to think through some of the broader implications for the role of the built environment to make us all feel better, to nudge us toward healthier choices, and to make our jobs more sustainable. https://lnkd.in/gJqUBe4t
