Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority’s Post

We love a bit of teamwork to make BIG things happen for Albuquerque and Bernalillo County! The Water Authority entered into a historic agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers that will allow the Water Authority to store native Rio Grande water in Abiquiu Reservoir. This will allow the Water Authority greater control over managing flow rates in the river and should make it easier for us to use surface water year ‘round instead of having to curtail diversions and rely solely on groundwater in the summer months. It was an honor to have Michael Connor, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, and the Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division Commander Col. James Handura join us in the celebration.
