Co-founder & co-Ceo @Chili Piper 🔥 🌶 Here I talk about lessons I learned to jumpstart my career from an intern to SVP. And to grow a company from 0 to almost 1 Bn

I climbed the corporate ladder all the way to SVP and I realized I was miserable Even though it was my dream to do so I had to constantly figure out how to play “corporate politics” and kept failing because I was not the loudest voice . Nor did I like to play dirty I felt I could only grow if I fought for more budget , for more resources. Even when I didn’t need it I had to pretend I needed an executive assistant to manage my “very busy “ schedule even though I felt I didn’t need to have all those useless meetings I had to figure out a million ways to get access to information that most people were hiding for control I had to constantly fly to different offices to make sure I’m visible and collaborate on decisions I couldn’t take time away from work to see the world . I imagined I will do it when I will “retire “ I was afraid to have children because they would take away too much time away from my work I kept having to wear a professional corporate mask. Having to use certain language to fit in. Avoid certain topics for conversation to make sure I don’t trigger people Most times I felt as if no one really cared for anyone else . It was like hunger game in real life Now I strive to create a company where all these things are not necessary. I don’t know if I will succeed but for sure I’m striving to do better

I deeply resonate with this. You will constantly experience burnout but must still put on a smiling face and keep motivating others even when you're down, else someone would see the vulnerability of their leader and would start to second-guess your ideas and decision. But hey! you sure will survive. All that energy is channeled towards doing the right thing and doing things right!

I’m realizing your dream is becoming my dream. What’s the first thing you did when you fully came to this resolution? I’m unsure as to what the first step is!!

Alina, it's inspiring to see your commitment to creating a healthier workplace.  One approach is embracing a transparent culture, where information flow is encouraged, not hindered.  Also, implementing flexible working policies can help balance professional and personal life. Wishing you success in building a better corporate environment.

I have also seen this movie 🙋🏻♀️. Thanks Alina for trying to break through what so many people/companies consider “the way it is”. Tech needs more founders/CEOs like you 👏🏻

Gosh, that does sound miserable! Sorry you had to go through that heartless corporate experience. What you're building at chili piper looks like the exact opposite and pretty amazing 😍 It's great to see someone building a successful company on this ethos ❤️
