In a world that often values self-interest & personal gain, it’s important to remember the power of sacrifice & selflessness. Sacrifice is the ultimate act of love & compassion, demonstrating our willingness to put others before ourselves. Whether it’s giving up our time, resources, or even our own desires, sacrifice has the ability to inspire & encourage those around us. The ultimate test of a man's conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard. Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness. What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains & is immortal. #iQor #MemorialDay iQor

THE PERSPECTIVE OF REBELLION AND STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE The Patriot forces during the American Revolution were considered rebels by the British monarchy, as they were seen as defiant and opposing the government's policies. On the American side, Patriots were hailed as liberation heroes, fighting against the injustice of British policies and colonial oppression that restricted human rights. Eventually, after the sustained efforts of the American Revolution, America was able to declare its independence with the support of the 13 colonies that resisted British rule. Sounds are familiar? No double standard please #seedifferentperspective

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the U.S. as issued by President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. In 2021, it became our newest national holiday. The US National Archives offers perspective on why the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in January 1863, but it was not until two years later in June 1865 that the last Confederate community of enslaved Americans received word that they had been freed from bondage: “President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared ‘that all persons held as slaves’ within the rebellious states ‘are, and henceforward shall be free.’ “Despite this expansive wording, the Emancipation Proclamation was limited in many ways. It applied only to states that had seceded from the United States, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal border states. It also expressly exempted parts of the Confederacy (the Southern secessionist states) that had already come under Northern control. Most important, the freedom it promised depended upon Union (United States) military victory. “Although the Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery in the nation, it captured the hearts and imagination of millions of Americans and fundamentally transformed the character of the war. After January 1, 1863, every advance of federal troops expanded the domain of freedom. Moreover, the Proclamation announced the acceptance of Black men into the Union Army and Navy, enabling the liberated to become liberators. By the end of the war, almost 200,000 Black soldiers and sailors had fought for the Union and freedom.” Read more here: https://buff.ly/2tjvnhb

💭 Reflecting on a Paradox: The Oath of a Military Veteran 🇺🇸 As a military veteran, I find myself contemplating the paradoxical situation I face. When I took an oath to defend our great nation, it was under the solemn promise to protect the USA, its people, and its values. A crucial element of that oath involved a commitment to God. However, I can’t help but notice the intricate line our government walks due to the principles of separation of church and state. While this separation ensures the protection of individual religious freedoms, it sometimes poses challenges for those who have dedicated their lives to safeguard that very freedom. The paradox lies in the dichotomy between my devotion to both my country and my faith. On one hand, I swore an oath to God, reinforcing the belief that our actions carry a higher purpose that transcends this physical realm. Yet, on the other hand, I find myself unable to receive certain religious treatment from the government, as it meticulously upholds the principle of separation. This paradox serves as a poignant reminder of the intricate balance our country seeks to maintain. It exemplifies the diverse perspectives and belief systems that exist among our military veterans who have dedicated their lives selflessly. But this paradox also underscores the importance of fostering dialogue and understanding among our fellow citizens. By openly discussing these complexities, we can bridge the gap between personal faith and the overarching principles that govern our diverse society. Let us remember that the beauty of our nation lies in its ability to embrace differences and uphold the values upon which it was built. It is through mutual respect, empathy, and shared dialogue that we can navigate these paradoxes and strengthen the tapestry of our society. 🙏🇺🇸 #MilitaryVeteranPEERNetwork #Paradox #FaithAndDuty #Dialogue #EmbraceDifferences

We remember all who served, volunteered, and died in war, conflict, and peacekeeping. We thank them for their service and reflect on their sacrifice. This Anzac Day, we highlight the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Thank you to the Deadly Story website for the below excerpts: “Our mob fought in large numbers during the World Wars, despite the fact that they were legally barred from serving. “A strong motivator for many was the promise of fair treatment and equality whilst in the armed forces." Racism still existed in the armed forces. But many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers have said they were treated better. In World War II, many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service people were also promised full citizenship rights on their return. When they returned, they "found the same and in some cases worse discrimination, colonisation and injustice as when they’d left". Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service people were not respected as veterans. They did not have their contributions recognised. "Recently, through the tireless work of families of service people and others, there has been more recognition of the contributions and bravery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the military." Adelaide unveiled the first memorial for Aboriginal soldiers in 2013. There are also memorials in Warrnambool and Mildura. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gzc43S4r #LestWeForget #Reconciliation

Remembering WWII: The Overlooked Sacrifices of African, Indian, and Caribbean Soldiers As the world commemorates the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, there's a glaring omission in our collective memory. Not a single mention of the hundreds of thousands of African, Indian, and Caribbean soldiers who fought valiantly for Britain, striving to keep the island nation free from German occupation. Their heroic stances and immense sacrifices have been conveniently erased from the grand narrative of WWII. While we honor the bravery of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy, we must also remember the estimated 500,000 African soldiers who fought across continents, the 2.5 million Indian soldiers who formed the largest volunteer force of the war, and the 16,000 Caribbean men and women who served in various capacities. These soldiers faced brutal combat, systemic racism, and post-war neglect, yet their stories remain largely untold. In one of the war's darkest moments, the Thiaroye Massacre, French forces opened fire on African veterans who had merely demanded their rightful wages and benefits. This atrocity exemplifies the contempt with which colonial powers treated their troops of color. Similarly, Indian and Caribbean soldiers returned to find little recognition or support, despite their critical contributions. As we remember D-Day, let's also honor these forgotten heroes. Their sacrifices were crucial in the fight for freedom, and their stories deserve to be remembered and revered. The narrative of WWII is incomplete without acknowledging the indispensable role played by African, Indian, and Caribbean soldiers. #WWIIAnniversary #UnsungHeroes #Dday80Years #AfricanSoldiers #IndianSoldiers #CaribbeanSoldiers #ColonialHistory #ForgottenHeroes #ThiaroyeMassacre #HistoricalRecognition

THIS IS LAST HOPE FOR GAZA In the name of humanity to whosoever this post reaches should sent this post to P.M. and President of his country and also to news papers and TV's. After thorough analysis I realised that there are two basic and fundamental structural defects in the constitution of UN which are 1. Veto Power System for the permanent members of the security council of UN. Since there is a body of all stakeholders in the form of General Assembly wherein all member- countries of the UN are represented there is absolutely no need of Security Council to accept or reject the resolutions passed by General Assembly. As such Security Council should be dissolved forthwith. 2. All member countries of UN are not signatory to the Rome statute consequently some countries are not under the International Criminal Court (ICC) whereas all the member countries have to be under the jurisdiction of ICC so that peace prevails in the world. . Due to these defects America has made a mockery of the UN as it is reduced to a puppet in the hands of the America. Consequently America with some allies have invaded several Muslim countries like Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya and looted these countries then leaving these countries after the loot is complete. Presently America with the help of Israel (both countries are not under the jurisdiction of ICC) is demolishing, cold blooded mass murders, devastation, destruction , displacement, ethenic cleansing, murder especially of children and women and genocide and the whole world including the UN have to be mute spectators of all this and nobody has the powers to question them because of these defects in the constitution of UN. More than seven decades have passed by but the above-mentioned defects in the constitution of UN were not rectified. Non-rectification of these defects has created a very grave situation as instead of peace maintaining organisation UN became a weapon of blackmailing and means of invading and looting the rich countries by some countries which were having the veto power also besides these countries were not signatory to the Rome statute consequently these countries were not under the jurisdiction of ICC. As the result these countries became law per se and virtually became terrorist countries of the world because they were not answerable to any forum for whatever they do. They invaded and looted several countries so much so they created terrorist groups also. Now the climax of lawlessness has reached in Palestine where total devastation, destruction, cold blooded mass murders, genocide, ethenic cleansing, kidnapping and rape of innocent and unarmed civilians is being done and the whole world including UN have to be mute spectators because of the basic and fundamental defects in the constitution of UN have not been rectified. This is the highest time these defects are rectified by the General Assembly. Let General Assembly wake up after decades of slumber and rectify the defects as proposed above.
