Is there a place for ancient forms of community living in modern boarding education? I think that there’s a good deal of similarity between the Rule of St Benedict and the educational ideals of Kurt Hahn, founder of Gordonstoun, and that non-religious schools have a great amount to learn from what is, in action, a 1500 year old guide to living with people you might not like. Now to work out what to do with a 7500 word essay on the subject!

The theme of Jeff's message is removing ambiguity. He states that kids are perceptive and when they are safe they pick up on that overall feeling in their safe space, the classroom. Listen up folks, because there’s a new schoolyard showdown brewing! In one corner, we have overworked, under-appreciated teachers. In the other? Parents...being trained to be...nuisances! Big ups to our truth-telling trio, Christopher Stewart, Sharif El-Mekki and Ismael Jimenez, for blowing the whistle on this one! Apparently, there’s a whole training program out there teaching parents to fight everything from homework policies to standardized tests. We’re all for advocating for our kids, but this ain’t the way! Schools are already facing a million challenges.Budget cuts, teacher shortages, you name it! Do they really need parents coming in with torches and pitchforks? The answer is a HELL NO! Parents AND teachers working TOGETHER! Open communication, mutual respect, and a shared goal of student success - that’s the winning formula! So, let’s rewrite the script on this parent-teacher showdown.
