Tennis Lesson Learned #5: Enjoy My Pain I have a crazy goal: to qualify for the Jewish Olympics. Spoiler alert – I am currently terrible. I started playing this year and I need to get to a collegiate level of play to have any shot. But here's the thing; I am embracing every flawed forehand, every misguided backhand, and every missed serve. Why? Because I believe that embracing my inadequacies is the first step towards mastery. We live in a world that celebrates perfection, where social media highlights are filled with nothing but accomplishments. But what you don't often see is the journey, the missteps, and the countless hours of practice that go into honing a skill. Every professional was once a beginner. And in those early stages, they weren't pretty. They weren’t perfect. But they were resilient. Being bad at something is a gift. It provides us with a blank canvas, a world filled with endless possibilities. Each mistake is a lesson, each failure a stepping stone. If we approach each setback with a learner’s mentality, we evolve. We grow. We inch closer to our goals. So, why am I sharing this with you? Because I want you to enjoy my pain. Not in a sadistic way, but as a testament to growth, to vulnerability, and to the beauty of the journey. Today, you might be chuckling at my missteps, but in the coming months, you’ll witness a transformation.

Once retired public servant. USD 470 Arkansas City, Kansas Safety & Security Coordinator | Hope Squad Advisor | SADD Sponsor | Certified Public Manager
I learned about the One Word Challenge from Jon Gordon and I plan to apply the principle to 2024. Instead of New Year resolutions, you choose a single word to guide your mission throughout the year. My word for 2024 is “opportunity.” My favorite quote comes from Herb Brooks, the legendary 1980 US Olympic Hockey coach, “Great moments are born from great opportunities.” I plan to be intentional about identifying opportunities and take action on them. I will also work to create new opportunities which will promote growth. Being retired from police work has afforded me a new perspective on the difference I can make. Capitalizing on opportunities has the potential to make an incredible impact. What is your one word? #OneWordChallenge #Opportunity

A Coach for High Achievers 🔹 Leaders, Business Owners, Founders 🔹 Trusted by executives at Google, Facebook & the Federal Reserve 🔹 Achieve BIG goals effortlessly
I recently discovered a powerful life lesson in an unexpected place. In my game of table tennis. I noticed that my hurried reactions were costing me valuable points in the game. I was reacting too swiftly to the ball coming back towards me, returning shots hastily without assessing my position or strategy. On recognizing this. My coach provided simple yet profound advice: "Wait, let the ball roll out. It'll give you enough time to position yourself appropriately and then return." Even though I've heard it before I needed this reminder, as we all often do. 🔥 This seemingly small adjustment transformed my game. By allowing myself that brief moment, I was able to better strategize, decide whether to use a forehand or backhand, and be intentional with my shots. This realization has far-reaching implications in our day-to-day lives 👇 It resonates with how often we react to: ➤ Situations ➤ Patterns ➤ Triggers in our lives without taking a step back to understand what's really happening. In life, just as in table tennis, our reactions can be swift and automatic. But do we always understand what we're hearing, seeing, or experiencing before we react? How often do we allow past patterns to influence our current responses? The concept is the same as letting the ball roll out before we decide our next move. What if we treated our life situations the same way? Pausing before reacting. 🔥Asking ourselves, "What's true here?" How might we respond differently to a situation, thought, or behavior if we took a moment to understand it from a place of clarity? The idea is simple but profound. This small shift - pausing before reacting - can make a massive difference in our lives. #tanialeads #tabletennis #reflection #sundaythoughts #transformationalcoaching

In honor of the US Open I wanted to share some of my favorite takeaways from Tim Gallwey's "The Inner Game of Tennis". ➜ Quiet the Noise: The power of silencing the inner critic and trusting your instincts is immeasurable, whether you're on the court or facing challenges in your professional journey. ➜ Focus on the Process: Success is not just about winning; it's about mastering the process. Concentrate on each step, and the outcomes will follow. ➜ Visualize Success: Mental imagery is a potent tool for boosting confidence and actualizing your goals. Visualize success vividly, and watch your performance soar. ➜ Feedback as Fuel: Don't shy away from feedback; instead, embrace it as an opportunity for growth. Learn, adapt, and evolve. ➜ Patience & Persistence: Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is mastery. Be patient with yourself and keep pushing forward. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. What lessons resonate with you, and how are you applying them in your life? #USOpen #PeakPerformance #TheInnerGameOfTennis #LifeLessons #WinthropWealth #WithYouForLife #wealthmanagement #financialplanning #investmentmanagement #planning #goodreads #books

It’s not about basketball. It’s about who you’re becoming through basketball 🔑. This is the real game. Conditioning and weight room are not necessarily “fun”… but they’re essential to your success as a hooper and your success as a healthy human being later in life. If you build the habit of working on your strength X conditioning thru the game, you have a much higher probability to ALWAYS do this as you get older. Doing the hard things that the game requires to be great builds grit, persistence and healthy life habits that transfer off the floor. It also works on the area of your brain required to do hard things. The more you complete hard things thru the game, the more you will complete hard things in life. This is CRUCIAL. The real game… I think at times, especially in hoop culture, we forget which game the youth are really playing here. Again… It’s not about basketball. It’s about who you’re becoming through basketball. Are you building life habits that will transfer once this game is finished? Or is your identity wrapped up in your ability to succeed on the floor? I promise you the first option is the healthier, REAL GAME. So ask yourself… what’s the game teaching you about life? Who are you becoming? What habits are you building? THE REAL GAME. #HoopStudy #basketballtraining #basketballdrills #basketballmotivation #workouts #NBA #handles

https://lnkd.in/gK9pY5GY Attitude is a critical component of growth, for both coaches and athletes alike. Technical Information and objective details are key when assembling an off-season training program. But it's the individual manner in which they are communicated that will ensure lasting success. Coaches not only need to be open-minded when choosing from a wide variety of data, but also when choosing a communication style for the implementation of adjustments. The style needs to be compatible with the INDIVIDUAL. When you work with athletes like Vinny, who are coachable and hungry, pushing themselves to elevate their performances, it's extremely refreshing.

“I am a loser. I tend to blame myself.” When was the last time you forgot something? Was it your fault or rather the fault of being in the middle of e.g. a (family/business preparation) chaos happening and you had minimal time to make a decision? You believed it was the best to make, but something was not considered. How easy is it for you to deal with the “I have forgotten” thing? Does it sink deep and you are thinking about it later on, or you simply don’t care. Should it sink deeper, what does help you? Do you tell yourself, "let me move on" and you go? Some of us have a short time to ‘negativity ignition and to its own blaming, some blame others or it is a mixture of behaviors’. Others can take a look from a distance staying in a comfort zone. I believe that it can be worked on. I am trying to improve myself and concentrate on the NEXT and let the PAST go while playing tennis. How about you? What is your training discipline? How do you improve? #improvement #training #selfdiscipline #concentration
