On a train headed to Schiphol airport and ultimately home again. This trip was whiplash fast, but I’m so energised by the keen interest in all things #informationmanagement and the opportunity to help organisations make things better by using their most powerful asset (which is information in case that wasn’t clear 😆).
Thank you as always to my wonderful colleagues in The Hague, particularly Selfinaz Sahin who strong armed me into coming over and made it totally worth it.
Love your work sharing the message about good information management protecting one of an organisations greatest assets. Investment in management of those properly promotes business success.
Today is the second day of the 4th AIRPORT OPERATIONS SUMMIT.
An interesting conference combined with the opportunity to meet and talk one-on-one with experts in practice managing at airports. The speakers as well as the other participants represent a wide spectrum of airports from the largest (e.g. Dallas, Berlin, Copenhagen ) to regional airports such as Ljubljana, Luxembourg or Aarhus and companies offering systems to support airport operations. Every time I have the opportunity to participate in such a meeting I become convinced that, as wise people say: "man is a lifelong learner".

Join my colleague Ilias Maragakis at the 4th World Airport Operation Summit (https://bit.ly/3yturZb) in Berlin tomorrow (16th of May) and follow his interesting speech about all sides of ORAT. Beside the airport point of view, he will also touch the one of the airlines:
Proper Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) is well known for airports but is of crucial importance for airlines at new airports too. A few reasons:
a) It ensures a seamless transition from construction to full operational status, minimizing disruptions, delays, and safety issues that could lead to significant financial losses and reputational damage for airlines.
b) It allows airlines to have their operational requirements and planned technologies incorporated into the design of new facilities, reducing the need for costly modifications after construction.
c) It provides airlines with the opportunity to improve their own airport procedures, systems, and staff skills through comprehensive training, familiarization, and operational trials conducted as part of the ORAT process.
d) It facilitates effective coordination and collaboration among airlines, airport authorities, and other stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of operational concepts and key performance indicators.
e) It enables airlines to gain confidence in the new facilities, systems, and procedures through rigorous testing and simulations, ensuring a smooth start of operations from day one.
