It's not uncommon for healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds to encounter discrimination and microaggressions from colleagues and patients. As a healthcare professional, I've personally experienced this mistreatment based on my color, ethnicity, and religious affiliation. Sadly, this is still a pervasive issue that not only affects the well-being of healthcare professionals but also the quality of care provided to patients. Diversity should be celebrated and cherished in the medical field. Each individual brings a unique perspective and cultural understanding that can greatly enhance patient care. Discrimination and microaggressions undermine the confidence of healthcare professionals and create an unhealthy work environment. It's crucial for us to address these issues head-on and foster an inclusive and supportive workplace culture. It's important for everyone, regardless of their background, to empathize with those who face discrimination. By putting ourselves in their shoes, we can develop a deeper understanding of the negative impact it has on individuals and society as a whole. As healthcare professionals, we have a responsibility to advocate for change. Let us stand together, raise our voices, and create a future where discrimination and microaggressions have no place in the medical field. By embracing diversity and celebrating our differences, we can create an environment that nurtures innovation, compassion, and excellence in patient care. #DiversityInMedicine #InclusionMatters #embracedifferences #no_to_racism

1 of the 10% of Urologists That Are Women in the US. ❤️ Life Coach. Writer. Speaker. I’m a Physician, #NotAProvider. Allergic to Superficial Conversations. Founder of Physician Coach Support.com Views Are My Own.
We can all do something. If you are a #physician in New Jersey, it is time to start doing something. We have to stop being passive observers of increased demands and, quite frankly, abuse of our time and expertise. Prior authorizations are just that. We can ALL DO SOMETHING. "Something" may be clicking the link if you are a NJ physician or know one then send the letter to your legislator. It could be sharing this post so the information can be disseminated, and others take action. This is not to see my numbers get "likes" or "shares." I will not be cooler, worthier, and more important if I get one comment or 1,000. It is about making sure we use the tools of social media for good and to create positive change and impact. Want other ideas? Follow Todd R. Otten, M.D., read his book, or join Medicine Forward. You can reach out to Gabe Charbonneau, MD, or your favorite advocate for positive change. It is time we work together; we amplify the good, and we realize WE HAVE POWER! Could you do something today? Anything. Smiling at a stranger or letting someone know you appreciate someone can be a great start!

Case Update - Biria v Biria [2024] EWHC 121 (Ch) - 95 year old client makes will during dementia-related OPG proceedings. ✅ Medical concerns raised (ref: dementia and OPG); but ❌ Golden Rule not followed. Retrospective capacity assessment finds Mr Biria lacked testamentary capacity. The case is pretty damning, the person preparing the will may or may not have been fully conversant with the rules around capacity. More could have been done to protect Mr Biria, his family and his wishes. Want to save conjecture and the cost of a retrospective capacity assessment? Capacity Vault is the service for you. #dementiaawareness #mentalcapacity #testamentarycapacity https://lnkd.in/ekZjCauZ

Transformational leadership, team and business coaching, Networking, Promotion, Mentoring - FAST genuine results for you and your team building confidence, communication skills, resilience and strategies to success.
When it comes to answering the question "What do you do?" It gets complicated*! In a week I could be coaching a client to excel on the stage. Helping someone get over their fear of networking and that elevator pitch. Training business owners on no cost marketing. Networking via my confidential mastermind group and sharing leads that lead to hundreds of thousands of pounds of new business. I could be helping someone set up a blog or write their first book and get a publisher to take them seriously. I could be working with a really stressed out team who have stupid deadlines right now and are working silly hours, so they work less and get more done with less stress. I could be talking about overwhelm or I could be talking about how to be confident. Or I could be email coaching on one of my 14 courses. So, what do I do? *To say it's an honour to work with Julia is an understatement. Her dedication to her customers, mission and business are unparalleled. Watch this space as Julia is doing amazing things...I'm just the cheerleader! Well, let's just say it doesn't fit on a business card! So I mostly go by Author, Mentor and Cheerleader - and as I heard said many times today, kick butter - not sure I'm putting that on a business card! What do you do?
Many thanks to #FrenkelToppingGroup for giving me the opportunity to share my story. Thanks to my financial settlement I have an index linked income for the rest of my life, giving me opportunities others less fortunate can only dream of. Richard Fraser negotiated my settlement thanks to my late father Bryan Wingfield for negotiating on my behalf. Thank you Pa, willl always be indebted to you. My journey continues, thanks to the amazing team at #NationalSpinalInjuriesCentre at Stoke Mandeville. International nurses day past me by, but I would particularly like to thank my surgeon Rebecca Shirley for putting me back together, Emil MOGA in SPOP for looking after me, Dr Jane Duff, Sally Reffold, Jane Stanbridge & Ali Jamous I wouldn't be here without you. Goes without saying Mandie Holgate deserves a medal for putting in the hours. Thanks also to Stephanie Webster and Alison Taylor for challenging me to stand out in the crowd

On 20th Feb 2024 the House of Commons Justice Committee heard evidence from: - Deborah Coles, Director of #INQUEST and Dr Richards, founder of the preventable deaths tracker - Roey Burdon, Founder of Coroners Court Support Service (CCSS) and Angela Geer CEO CCSS. In relation to prevention of future death reports Ms Coles expressed: - A properly conducted inquest can have important preventative potential. - #PFDreports have a public interest importance because they can inform improvements to public health and safety. - PFDs have been important in shining a light on systemic areas of concern and some have translated into policy change and reviews. - A challenge in relation to PFDs is that there is no oversight, monitoring or analysis of what action, or inaction follows PFDs and their implementation so there is an accountability gap. - There is a postcode lottery in the #PFD system. - One of the values of PFDs should be learning at national, not just local level. - The mechanisms proposed is for a public body to collate, analyse and follow up and make public what has happened to PFDs and recommendations that come from post-death processes. Dr Richards explained: - She has created a tracker to turn coronial information into useful data that provides statistics, including the number of PFDs published every year and which #coroners and coronial areas are writing PFDs to give an indication of geographical variation. - There is a need for far greater analysis, dissemination, and action in response to PFDs. - There is no local or national approach to addressing PFDs formally or systemically. - Research shows coroners repeatedly raise the same concerns. - PFDs need a national oversight mechanism. Ms Geer giving evidence about the CCSS, described: - The CCSS is “…probably one of the country’s best-kept secrets”. - It covers 44 coronial areas, in 49 courts. - It is the CCSS’s aspiration to be in all coroners courts in E&W. - Bereaved families talk about being present at an inquest as the 3rd worst day of their lives. The 1stworst day is the death; the 2nd the funeral and the 3rd relieving everything. - A national helpline complements the at court service and takes both national and international calls. The international element concerns deaths overseas, repatriation and other inquiries.
