Not sure about you, but my world has been all about VELOCITY recently. It started with Lenny Rachitsky's interview of Geoff Charles, VP of Product at hypergrowth FinOps decacorn Ramp. Charles and his team take great steps to take the micro-managey bits out of product definition — no ticket writing, no meetings, brief vision statements instead of lengthy PRD docs — all the in the name of creating greater velocity. An insight from Lenny mid-pod on the work of Dr. Nicole Forsgren had me thinking back to my Little League days on lessons learned about the tie between velocity and accuracy. Finally, a similar conversation with a product leader had me re-reading Creativity, Inc., one of my favorite books on healthy creative culture, and how creative teams can separate ideas from the people who create them, making them easier to refine and improve. And how truly original ideas often need time, iteration, and the right balance of scrunity and protection to grow into something great. More thoughts from me beyond the click. How are your teams thinking about velocity? What lessons have you learned? https://lnkd.in/eX79fbKm

In Platform? In London? I'm speaking at the "Platform As A Product" Meetup next month ! The energy last time was awesome, so I'm very excited to get a chance to talk there next month. We'll chat about: 1. Why developer surveys aren't very useful for platform user research. 2. Why roadmapping efforts can be a trap for platform teams. 3. Why enlisting your developers into your platform team is key for adoption. 4. Understand your developers through interviewing (not as hard as you think) See you there !
We have lined up two awesome talks for the London Platform as a Product meet-up on 16th May. Jonny Williams and Paul Brown from Red Hat will be discussing delivery patterns for building platforms with product thinking, showcasing the first draft of a community driven framework 🚀 Lou Bichard from Gitpod will talk us through his experiences of moving from Platform Engineering to Product Manager with lots of lessons learned! Come and join us! https://lnkd.in/eFyVP7qE

Anyone who has managed an open source project knows that it can sometimes feel like a never-ending uphill battle. New Pull Requests keep flowing into your inbox from talented contributors around the globe, and the task of triaging them all can quickly become overwhelming. 😓 That's precisely why we built gitStream! gitStream is your code review sidekick: use YAML to define policies and practices to streamline your PR review and merge process. 🛠️ Here are three simple automations to consider: 1️⃣ Estimate Review Time: Automatically estimate how many minutes a review will take and apply color-coded labels that provide clarity for maintainers. 2️⃣ Label Changed Resources: At a glance, understand what resources are changed in a PR with automatic labels, helping maintainers quickly contextualize changes. 3️⃣ Suggest Code Experts: Zero in on those who have the most expertise for particular PRs and automatically assign them to conduct the review. Implementing these steps can drastically cut down the time and effort you spend triaging incoming PRs, freeing your maintainers to focus on what they do best. 🎯 Curious to know more? For additional code review automation strategies, dive into our latest article featuring the top 8 code review automations for open source communities: https://lnkd.in/grkNNuVR #OpenSource #gitStream #CodeReview #Automation #CommunityManagement #DevOps

Senior Site Operations & Automation Specialist | Enablement Driving Growth and Innovation in the Digital Era | Technical Mentor
MMHHackFest was around code, collaboration, and creation. I find myself reflecting on the spirit of teamwork and innovation. I was inspirited to witness diverse teams coming together and share passion for pushing the boundaries of technology and embracing the culture of DevOps. A quote for our HackFest by Helen Keller - "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" . This once again comes back to collaboration where it becomes the cornerstone of our success. Hackathons allow individuals to leverage from each other's strengths, creativity and solving solutions together. I am proud of the outcome of our Hackathon. We now know that a DevOps pipeline is not only a technical achievement but a commitment to continues integration, delivery, and improvement. With embracing the DevOps methodology, we have laid a solid foundation for efficiency, scalability, and reliability in the operations space. Or journey has only just begun, and there is still much ground to cover, I feel the team looks forward to more opportunities to delve deeper into technologies and refining processes. Once again Hackathons will create stronger bonds of collaboration within diverse teams. Together we will continue to innovate and elevate our standards. Like someone said - Lets keep pushing boundaries, embracing challenges, and creating a future where code, collaboration and creation thrive. #MMHHackFest
