The Power of a Call I was reminded this week, the power in simply just picking up the phone. So often, it’s just more convenient to text, slack, email or use socials to stay connected or converse with family, friends, peers etc. A few different isolated events where the connection with a simple call resulted in just a much more positive and rewarding conversation, securing of more work, better understanding of an issue or just better resolve to an issue has been refreshing. Is it most efficient? No. Should efficiency matter when it comes to personal connections, also no. Analytics, metrics, and hyper focus on production forces us to sacrifice the most fundamental thing that makes people tick, simply being connected. The focus on team is genuine when connected but when the team is just a series of isolated individuals it just becomes rhetoric. It’s amazing the impact a simple call can have on a relationship. So instead of firing off the task oriented text or slack, challenge yourself, reach out to someone and just talk for a little bit. #team #connect #bepresent #begenuine #listen
